Participating in the Treasure Matching Community

No, it doesn't cost anything to be part of the Treasure Matching community or to become a member. We're covering the cost of hosting the community, but we're not part of transactions between members. If we were involved in transactions, we'd have to charge for that; it would cost us more to facilitate a site where transactions take place, and there would be payment processing fees.

We're creating a trusted community of collectors so that members feel safe buying, selling, and trading with other members. The transactions are arranged between members who come to know one another and are helping each other rescue and restore treasures from the past!

A match can only be completed by the owners of the items, because only the owners of the items can accurately conclude that items match. But, anyone can send a member a message to alert them of a match they’ve seen on the site. We think this is part of the hunt and the fun!

TM's goal is to create a site that's safe and fun to be a part of, so interacting is for members only. Searching for items doesn't require a visitor to be a member, but if you want to buy, sell, or trade an item, send a message to a member, or search and post in the Collector's Café, you need to register for an account and become a member, which is FREE! :)

Listing, Buying & Selling on TM

No, you don't have sell or trade any of the items you list.

You have several options when sharing items with the community:

1. You can list an item because you want to find the missing piece and buy that piece.

2. You may just want to restore an item and your willing to buy or sell the missing piece.

3. You may have an item you just want to sell or trade for something else.

4. You can also just list an item because you want to know more about it and you'd like to find out what the community can tell you about the item. We don't have a specific option for that currently on the listing page, but what you can do in this case is select both: 'Buy the missing piece to this item' and "I’m not sure what my item is or I would like to know more about it' and your item will show up in the Treasure Search, but it will not be for sale. It will show up in the search with other items members want to know more about. You can also share these items in the Collector's Cafe.

You can list an item for as long as you want.

You can delete a listing at anytime by selecting the delete button on your listing.

There are some things that you can't list on Treasure Matching. This community exists to facilitate the matching of antiques and collectibles; t’s not intended to be a retail marketplace of newly manufactured merchandise or for matching modern day wares. In addition Treasure Matching has a prohibited uses policy and excludes items that are illegal to sell online; TM also reserves the right to exclude any listing it deems inappropriate for the Treasure Matching community. (Check out the copy we've pasted below from TM's Terms of Service regarding our return policy).

No, you can't sell or match firearms of any kind. In addition to Treasure Matching's allowable items policies listed in the Terms of Service, there are many laws and regulations surrounding the sale of firearms and imitations firearms.

Imitation firearms that are prohibited on Treasure Matching include but are not limited to: Air guns which fire metal BBs, Fanstasy guns, Replica guns, Toy guns, Cap guns, Water guns, Airsoft guns.

There is no limit to the number of items each member can list.

No. You can list an item for any price you want, but remember to always take precautions when selling or exchanging an item. If you're not familiar with the member, take the time to get to know them. Also, we have a review system so that you can see what other member's experiences have been with a member.

We want Treasure Matching to be a safe community and we work hard to deal with issues in the community; we remove members who act in fraudulent or unethical ways.

If you're selling an expensive item, using an escrow service is wise. When meeting in person with another member, it's also wise to meet in a public place during the day. If you're concerned about a transaction with another member, before you proceed, you can contact us and we'll tell you if the member is in good standing.

We recommend that you do some research into how much similar items are selling for online in their complete state, and then list your item for half of that. You can always negotiate with a member as to the price or as to who is going to buy the missing piece from who.

Yes, but keep in mind that fraud is rampant on the internet!! Any buying, selling, or trading you do with other members that you connect with on Treasure Matching, you're doing at your own risk; as per TM's terms and conditions, we are not responsible for any loss, damage, or harm of any kind that you experience because of an interaction with any Treasure Matching member. This is why it's important that you know the community and are familiar with the other members, and that you only buy, sell, or trade with members that have proven they can be trusted.
